Terry Crews is Campaigning to Play King Triton in Disney’s Upcoming Live Action ‘The Little Mermaid’

By Amber McKynzie @amackgizzles · On July 9, 2019

Looks like Terry Crews wants a new life under the sea.

Disney announced Halle Bailey as Ariel in its upcoming live action The Little Mermaid remake, and Terry Crews wants to join the fun.

Crews jumped on social media Saturday afternoon to post a photo of him as the next King Triton. He captioned his campaign pic, “Ariel’s Dad!!!! #ArielsGotTerry #AmericasGotTerry”

Earlier today, the NFL player-turned-actor pushed his platform by asking his 1.3 million-plus followers to retweet his new #TerryForTriton photo in hopes of getting Disney’s attention to seriously consider him for the role. Nearly 4,000 fans have heeded his request to repost the pic, but he needs a few more to really get things going.

Meanwhile, fans are here for Crews’ petition to be cast as the king of Disney’s fictitious international body of water –no matter how much sense it does or does not make.

So when are we starting the petition?

As Crews lobbies for Disney to give him a chance, Variety reports actress Melissa McCarthy is “in early talks to play the sea witch Ursula.”

Though nothing has been confirmed, it’s only a matter of time before Disney announces the full cast of the 1989 remake.
