‘Billboard’ Breaks Down Chris Brown’s Decade-Long Downfall
By Amber McKynzie @amackgizzles · On March 2, 2017Relive some of Chris Brown’s most troubling moments.
On Feb. 8, 2009, Chris Brown took over media headlines when word of a physical altercation between himself and now former girlfriend Rihanna made its way through the rumor mill and on to every publishing outlet’s front page. Since then, the teen-heartthrob-turned-international-superstar has been on a downward spiral circa his 2011 outburst on Good Morning America, a 2013 parole violation that involved an angered Breezy punching a man trying to take a picture with him in Washington D.C., a mid-2016 lawsuit filed against him by his now former attorney Michael “Mike G” Guirguis for assault and recent standoff with police at his Los Angeles home after actress Baylee Curran claimed he was waving a gun at her.
As of late, the rebounded singer’s only gone from bad to worse. One month ago, Breezy uploaded a video to Instagram commenting on the how hard he loves when he loves a woman. “If I love you, bitch, ain’t nobody gonna have you. I’m gonna make you miserable. I’m gonna chase that n—a out, I’m gonna chase your ass around…f–k that!” (A bit concerning, don’t you think?)

CB’s more recent ex, Karrueche Tran, filed a restraining order against him last week after he allegedly threatened to “kill” and “shoot” her, reports TMZ. And now, Karrueche’s BFF, Joseph Ryan La Cour, has followed suit, also filing a restraining order against Chris Brown.
Lately, CB can’t seem to get a break, but his behavior isn’t always beastly. In fact, he’s pretty much a creative genius, when focused.
The Virginia native has earned 16 Top. 20 records throughout his career, 15 Grammy nominations and one Grammy Award for Best R&B Album (F.A.M.E.). Thus, it’s clear the pop culture icon is more than his troubled exterior.
“He’s a natural. He is almost God’s perfect person,” Flii Stylz, Brown’s longtime choreographer, recently told Billboard about his client. “No matter how he f—s up and no matter what he does, another replacement for him is not on the way in the next decade.”
His label, RCA, told Billboard, “We’re proud to be in business with Chris, a uniquely gifted artist who is always striving to be better. Through his ups and downs, we will continue to stand behind him.”
To document the timeline of Brown’s tumultuous behavior – on a set or at home – Billboard reached out to some of the entertainer’s closest friends, former employees and current colleagues in an effort to understand the makings of R&B’s current bad boy.
