Jada Pinkett Smith Responds to ‘All Eyez On Me’ Portrayl of Her Relationship with Tupac Shakur
By Amber McKynzie @amackgizzles · On June 16, 2017Jada Pinkett Smith has something to say.
Today marks the release of Tupac Shakur’s long awaited biopic, All Eyez On Me. True hip-hop (and urban film) fanatics have had their expectations of the film set high for quite some time, but for those who’ve already seen the movie, those expectations were quickly let down – including those of Jada Pinkett Smith.
The Benny Boom-directed film has received diverse reactions, but those in Hollywood and hip-hop – the people who really had the chance to know or study the rap legend – haven’t been too happy with what they’ve seen. 50 Cent turned to Instagram this morning to express his disappointment with the film, saying, “I’m a big 2 PAC fan, I just don’t think his story was done well he deserved better.” He continued, “Check it out, the shit felt like I was watching a life time TV movie in a theater.”
And we have to say, we’ve seen the movie, and we agree. Tupac deserved much better than this (much better).

Jada Pinkett, who’s character is portrayed in the film by Switzerland-born actress Kat Graham, thought the depiction of her and ‘Pac’s relationship was “deeply hurtful.” Why? Because according to her, most of the a lot of the facts were inaccurate.
She began her eight-tweet monologue by saying, “Forgive me… my relationship to Pac is too precious to me for the scenes in All Eyez On Me to stand as truth.” And her truth just took it from there.
Forgive me… my relationship to Pac is too precious to me for the scenes in All Eyez On Me to stand as truth.

Pac never read me that poem. I didn't know that poem existed until it was printed in his book.

Pac never said goodbye to me before leaving for LA. He had to leave abruptly and it wasn't to pursue his career.

I've never been to any of Pac's shows by his request. We never had an argument backstage.

The reimagining of my relationship to Pac has been deeply hurtful.

To @KatGraham and @Dshippjr this is no fault of yours. Thank you for bringing so much heart and spirit to your roles.

You both did a beautiful job with what you were given. Thank you both.

Happy birthday Pac, you are cradled in my heart for eternity.
I love you.— Jada Pinkett Smith (@jadapsmith) June 16, 2017
We can’t say we would put our stamp of approval on the film, but perhaps everyone should say they saw All Eyez On Me once?
