ICYMI: Lil Wayne wants the world to know he’s a rapper, not a “f—ing politician.”
Last Wednesday (Nov. 2), Lil Wayne sat down with ABC News for an intense rendition of its primetime news show, Nightline, which featured an in-depth interview with ABC’s Linsey Davis. The interview, which ended with a very annoyed Dwayne Carter, began by focusing on Weezy’s life over the past three years and his musical achievements beginning at the age of 11. Ultimately highlighting Wayne’s worldwide influence, the in-depth conversation with ABC News’ Linsey Davis transformed into a discussion about his thoughts on one of today’s most powerful Black movement: #BlackLivesMatter.
His response to the topic, well, that one seemed to shock every fan, activist, human invested in the cause.
“It just sounds weird. I didn’t know that you put a name on [it]. It’s not a name, it’s not ‘whatever, whatever’ (illustrated with air quotes)…I am a young, Black, rich man – if that don’t let you know that America understands that Black lives matter these days [then] I don’t know what it is,” Wayne tells Davis. “Don’t come at me with that dumb shit. My life matter, especially to my bitches (looking dead into the camera).”
He went on to say, “I don’t feel connected to a damn thing. That ain’t got nothing to do with me. If you do, you crazy as shit. You. I’m connected to this motherf—ing flag right here, I’m a gang banger, man.”
Unimpressed with Wayne’s lack of leadership, T.I. turned to Instagram to ask his friend, colleague and fellow American to think before he speaks.
“You have to get outta that bubble that you’ve been living in & get out here & educate yourself on what’s going on around US!!!” He continued, “u MUST STOP this buffoonery & coonin’ you out here doin.”
