Demi Lovato Delivers the New Female Anthem of the Summer, And She’s ‘Sorry Not Sorry’ About It

By Anecdote Staff @theanecdotemag · On July 17, 2017

Demi Lovato has a message for the haters…

It’s been a while since Demi Lovato dropped a summer hit – two years to be exact. (Just reflect back on 2015’s “Cool for the Summer” for reference.) But that changed Tuesday (Jul. 11), when DL released her latest single, “Sorry Not Sorry” – something that’s sure to become the new female anthem of the summer.

Lovato told Amazon Music that “‘Sorry Not Sorry’ is basically a song to the haters that is basically saying, you know what, I’m good now, and I’m sorry I’m not sorry that you may not be loving where your life is at the moment.”

Music fans, including Lovato’s loyal lovatics, can attest to its meaning.

The three-and-a-half-minute track, produced by Zaire Koalo, Trevor Brown, and Warren “Oak” Felder, showcases Lovato’s bold and powerful vocals via a message of self-empowerment and self-worth, something the “haters” never wanted Demi to have.

After a bad break-up, a difficult time at work, or just a basic day with basic people, this is the kind of song every girl (or woman) wants to hear as she opens a bottle of bubbly and sings to herself in the mirror.

What will they be singing? That’s simple.

“Now payback is a bad bitch, and baby, I’m the baddest/You f—king with a savage, can’t have this can’t have this…Being so bad got me feeling so good/Showing you up like I knew that I would…Feeling inspired ‘cause the tables have turned/Yeah, I’m on fire and I know that it burns.”

For those who don’t know, Demi’s single comes after the singer celebrates five years of sobriety – kicking drugs and alcohol, and learning how to properly manage her bi-polar disorder.
